Cubano |
Last week I got lazy and didn't bring lunch one day. And instead of doing something responsible and getting something good for me or even going for something good for my wallet I got my heart set on a cubano sandwich from
Solas. And of course Babbit will go along with anything he doesn't have to go get himself. So we talk Alan into getting lunch with us (it didn't take much.) I got the cubano, Alan got the caprese chicken sandwich and Babbit got the fish and chips. The sandwiches came with fries and for all three the fries came in their own container. Which was nice because I think it helped the fries stay crispy. And you got a lot of fries. Which was nice too. Alan said the chicken was moist and tender and the sandwich was good. The cubano was greasy and delicious. It was surprisingly spicy. I liked it but it was more heat than I expected even though it said it had chipotle mayo on it. Babbit, who is notoriously picky, pronounced the fish and chips good as well. The batter was light and crispy. He did not complain about it at all. Which, if you know Babbit, means a lot. At $18 for the fish and chips and $15 for a sandwich it is a little more expensive than we can do on a regular but the food was really good and I will probably go back at some point.
And then I didn't bring lunch again. And Babbit never brings lunch because he has it like that. So we ended up at
Boloco the next day. I got the buffalo, like (almost) always. But this time I tried it with the whole wheat tortilla. I like the buffalo wrap. But I'll be going back to the flour tortilla. And Babbit got the classic because he doesn't like new. But this time he tried carnitas. I was very proud of him. And once again I don't think he complained about the food. It is nice to have a place that still has reasonable prices within walking distance when everything else is being priced out of the area. The only problem I have with
Boloco is that the small is slightly too small and the regular size is slightly too big. So I never really know which size to get.
Then, on Friday, the only day I should have gone out and bought lunch we went back to the
Teriyaki House. I talked about it earlier
here. We tried a few other things this time, including the Korean Spicy Beef and the Spring Rolls. Once again everything was good. Once again Danny...Boy was not in that day. We still need to work on him.
