Elephun Wednesday

Yes, this is an elephant paperclip.  Isn't he cute?  The only problem with elephant paperclips is you don't want to use them because you might have to give them away.  Unless you are like the Shipping Monkeys and wear them clipped onto your shirt like a pin.  Which is weird, so I wish I was joking.  But I am not.

Bling

So, recently we all got shirts for work.  But everyone in facilities got the same shirts.  And you know the Shipping Monkeys can't be like everyone else.  So we added a little personal bling to ours.  In the immortal words of Chris, we wear them to show we stand in solidarity with the mighty one.  He is a man of few words but very profound.  This is for you Bee Hee.

Elephun Wednesday

I can not leave these guys alone for two minutes.  Look at what happens.  I don't even know what to say.  This is insulting to Abraham Lincoln and elephants.  But Danny...Boy and DB3 both laugh hysterically whenever they see it.  So what can you do.  Happy President's Day.

Elephun Wednesday

Happy Valentine's Day!!!  This oddly egg shaped elephant wants to be your valentine.  He even brought his little dickey bird friends to sing you a song.

Elephant in the Wild

Here is another elephant I just happened to come across in my daily life.  You are probably wondering why so many of my elephants in the wild have to do with alcohol.  Well, shut up.  Don't judge me.

I have to admit that I only bought this because it has an elephant on the label.  But it actually pretty tasty.  Kind of like Irish Cream, but not.  I had never heard of Amarula before and was looking for something else completely.  But I couldn't pass this up.  It is apparently made from a fruit (the Marula fruit) that elephants eat.  If this is what they taste like, I can see why.  Enjoy responsibly.

Haunted!!

Okay, people.  If you are ever using a power jack and get an error message of C80 - RUN!!!  Apparently it means poltergeist.  Our jack, who we all thought of as a loyal friend went nuts.  It started spinning around all by itself.  It moved our metal sorting bin that weighs about a ton like it was made out of cardboard.  It almost took out Henry and Danny...Boy.  It was truly very scary.  The repair man said it was a broken part in the handle.  But I am unconvinced.  I am keeping a close eye on it.  And being very nice to it just to be sure.  Nice, jack, good, jack.  We're friends, aren't we, jack?

My Friend Maggie Review

My Friend Maggie by Hannah E. Harrison

The illustrations are bright and cheerful and the animals all have a lot of character and expression so they add a lot of fun to the book.  The story is about Paula the Beaver and her friend Maggie the Elephant.  Paula thinks Maggie is the best until other kids start making fun of Maggie.  Paula has to choose between fitting in or sticking by her friend.  In the end Maggie shows Paula what true friendship is all about.  It's a sweet story and I think kids will be able to relate to both Maggie and Paula.  (Although hopefully not to the mean little dog, Veronica, who acts exactly like what she is.) The only part I don't like it that Paula acts like being called Bucky is a bad thing.  That's no goody.

Elephun Wednesday

The super bowl was very exciting this year.  A real nail biter right up to the last moment.  But none of us should have been surprised by the outcome because this very smart elephant told us what would happen.  Congratulations, Eagles.

Elephant in the Wild

You can not imagine how excited the Monkeys got when this appeared in our freight elevator.  Now most people would not even notice such a thing.  But we are not most people.  So when Danny...Boy saw this elephant shaped stain he was so happy about it he not only had to call everyone over to look at it but he had to take a picture too.  Just in the very unlikely event that someone would clean it up.  (It is still there by the way, and probably will be forever.)

Christmas!!

So this post is long over due.  But I'm going to do it anyway.  The Shipping Monkeys had the annual Christmas party.  This was, you know, back at Christmas time.  This year we decided to make it a very special, very Shipping Monkey Christmas.  So there were lots of elephants.  We had an elephant tree, elephant lights, elephant cookies and all sorts of good stuff.  Of course we also had food.  The food was not elephant related.  We had delicious chicken wings from Wings Over Boston and yummy pastries from Spinelli's.  I think a good time was had by all.  It was fun watching the wing champion eat what appeared to be around 80 chicken wings.  Last year's champion graciously gave up the crown.

We also raised $80 for The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee.  So hopefully that money will help out all those retired elephants.

We are already planning next year's festivities.  Even though we just took the tree down, like, two days ago.

Elephun Wednesday

These two friends have been stranded on a deserted island.  And what else do you do on a deserted island but the lobster dance.  Although that crab better watch out.  Food is probably in short supply and that elephant is looking kind of hungry.

The Groundhog has decided that there will be six more weeks of winter.  Not a surprise.  That is why this elephant wants to take over the job.  In his opinion this groundhog is doing a terrible job.
